"Stories always begin the same way. There was and there was not. There is a possibility in those words, the chance for hope or despair."

I recently finished reading this and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. It had such a fairytale feel the whole way though, from the language to the setting to the story itself. The opening page “to anyone who has ever felt poisonous or monstrous or bristling with thorns” BRILLIANT. Plus the love story in this is so cute.

I didn't really have any expectations of what the story would be about or how good it would be. It's an easy read and an original story with a hint of fairy dust.

I've given this a five star review for what it is, a heart warming fairytale. The classic good overcoming the evil in the world and in ones self, with a romantic twist. This time the princess doesn't need to be saved.
